An upscale middle-class residential and commercial area within the City of San Diego and adjacent to La Jolla.  Often called and known as ?The Golden Triangle´.  Its borders are Interstate 5 to the west, Interstate 805 to the east, La Jolla Village Drive to the north and Freeway 52 to the south.

Located here are high-rise hotels and offices, first-class restaurants, bookstores, supermarket,  high-rise senior apartments along with major shopping mall called University Towne Center.  Many students live in this area as the University of California San Diego is nearby.  This also provides for many cultural and educational activities.

Most of the single family detached homes were built in the 1960´s and 1970´s.  There have been numerous newer developments of town homes, condominiums and apartments.  One area called Renaissance is a bit more upscale with some of the town homes and condos within gated complexes.

Schools in University City are in the top twenty percentile.

Downtown San Diego is approximately 12-15 miles to the south.  Sorrento Valley is just to the north a few miles.  University City has several community parks and recreational centers, walking and hiking trails.  Golf courses and beaches are close by.
