4S Ranch is a newer and master-planned development just to the East of the main section of Rancho Bernardo.  The school district is Poway Unified School District (one of the most sought-after school districts in San Diego County).  When built-out the plans call for sheriff’s station, library, playing fields & parks, fire station, tennis and basketball courts. 

Plenty of shopping and restaurants found around 4S.  Carmel Mountain Ranch has Costco, Home Depot, Major retail, Supermarkets, Restaurants, Post Office and more.  There are townhomes, condos and single family homes.  Rancho Bernardo is considered an upper middle-class neighborhood.  It started out as a community for retirees.  Soon grew into all age groups even though there is still a large senior community there (for 55 and over).
