Along the west side of Downtown is an area called Little Italy - known for its restaurants. Little Italy is growing with new developments of condominiums and apartments. The main area of Downtown is described above; restaurants, high-rise condos and offices, baseball park, shopping and other tourist attractions. Old Town area just to the north includes many Mexican Fiesta type bazaar including authentic shops and restaurants. Hillcrest and Uptown is a larger residential neighborhood with all the conveniences within walking distance. This area features original San Diego homes and apartments and condominiums along with University of California Medical Center. Transportation is abundant. North Park, South Park and Golden Hill are neighborhoods along Balboa Park. These areas feature coffee shops, stores, restaurants and quaint homes only a short commuting distance to Downtown.
